About Simhachalam Giripradakshina
Simhachalam Temple of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy, located in adavivaram village,Visakhapatanam, Andhrapradesh. The Simhachalam Temple is situated on simhachalam hill, at 800 meters above the sea level. The speciality of the temple is, Here,except one day, on all other days, Swamy was covered with sandal. Only on Chandanotsavamday, swamy gives darshan without chandanam layer on his body.
Simhachalam giripradakshina 2018 means, walking around the simhachalam temple hill of 32 KMs length. The event starts at simhachalem temple and ends at simhachalam temple. The Giri pradakshinais held every year on Giri Purnima, Full moon day in Ashadamasam. Devottes from all corners of Andhra pradesh, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Orissa participate in the auspicious event. Traditional Andhra pradesh people participate in Giripradakshina by singing devotional songs.

On Ashada Purnima day, evening at 4.00 pm, Simhachalam Giripradakshina festival begins after performing special Puja at Foot of the temple hill andby pulling sri. Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Charriot. Devotees offer coconut to swamy at the statue near the foot hill and starts walking along with the Radham. Many Pilgrims sing devotional songs and dance in front of the chariot.

- Take more liquids, fluids which were offered on road during the giripradakshina.
- Carry dry fruits, glucose etc, for instant energy.
- Take rest frequently and massage legs, ties during the rest period.

- Don’t carry heavy languages as food, water and medicines are available along the road way.
